September 1, 2010    

The weekly meeting of the Sterling Board of Selectmen was called to order at 6:04 p.m.  Selectmen present-Russell Gray, Neil Cook, and Dale Clark.  Staff present-Judy Lincoln.  Also present-Hank Graff.

Audience of Citizens:  No comment.  

Approval of Minutes:  D. Clark made a motion, seconded by N. Cook, to approve the minutes of the 08/25/2010 meeting as presented.  All voted in favor.

Unfinished Business:

a.    Vacancy on Inland Wetland & Watercourses Commission:  Item tabled.

b.    Allternate Vacancy on Recreation Authority: Item tabled.

c.    Report on Gibson Hill Road Replacement: The new bridge was opened on Monday morning for the school buses and was opened to all traffic in the afternoon. There is still a little clean-up work to be done.  Cost of work to date is $164,875.28. Outstanding invoices include paving bills, cement contractor, and engineering services.

New Business: 

a.  Request from Board of Education for handicapped accessible vehicle: A

     letter dated 8/30/10 was received from Superintendent Rena Klebart,   

     requesting the town purchase a handicapped  accessible vehicle.  The Board

     of Education is presently contracting with MEDX for this service at a cost of

     $108.00 per day.  D. Clark made a motion, seconded by N. Cook, to table  

     action on this request to gather more information. All voted in favor of the   

     motion.

Any Other Business: 1) R. Gray is seeking information on the best way to repair the culvert on Newport Road without destroying the headwalls.
